Our 3 stars hotel in Castagneto Carducci is located in the Etruscan Coast: this region of Tuscany is rich in food, wine and culture and we can talk about for days! Below you find our suggestions for food and wine itineraries in the surroundings of Hotel i Ginepri.
Bolgheri
This is a must-see in the area: Bolgheri is the dreaming destination wine and food lovers from all over the world. First off we suggest to visit the wineries that we like the most and for which we can help organizing a tour with wine tastings. The town of Bolgheri is much appreciated for the relaxed atmosphere, where we love to chill out with family and friends. To reach it you have to drive for 5 kilometers along the famous Viale dei Cipressi, one of the most picturesque roads in Tuscany. The old gate of the old fortress of the Della Gherardesca family is the entrance to the center, that is a real gem with narrow streets, flowered windows and doors, little restaurants and cafès. We are sure you will be enchanted by Bolgheri!
Castagneto Carducci
Hotel i Ginepri is located by the sea in Marina di Castagneto Carducci, about 10 kilometers from the main town of Castagneto Carducci. This charming town, located on top of a windy hill in the Etruscan Coast, takes its name from the Italian poet Giosuè Carducci, who spent here his childhood and many other years during his long life.In the city center we recommend to visit the House of Carducci and the Archive and Museum, the Church of San Lorenzo, the Castle and the Church of S.S. Crocifisso where is on display a wooden crucifix dating back to the 14th century. Don’t miss the belvedere where to admire the stunning view over the sea and the Tuscan countryside, where there are many wineries to visit.
Suvereto
Another remarkable hilltop town in the countryside not far from our hotel, is Suvereto. This undiscovered gem of Tuscany is listed as one of the most beautiful medieval towns of Italy; it takes its name from cork, sughero in Italian language, that are still growing in the surroundings. The town of Suvereto is still enclosed in its defensive walls and preserves the original medieval aspect with narrow streets and red bricked houses. Don’t miss the Palazzo Comune, the Parish Church of San Giusto, the Museum of Sacred Art inside the Church of San MIchele Arcangelo.Suvereto is the place for DOC Val di Cornia wine and for the wild boar’s specialties, as a matter of fact every year there is the famous Sagra del Cinghiale where you eat the best Tuscan specialties made with wild boar.
